Western Maryland Attractions and Things to Do
Western Maryland offers a wide range of activities and enchantments, and there are so many things to do for tourists, families, and locals. Visit the city of Cumberland and discover the C&O Canal Heritage Trail, which includes hiking and biking trails. The Canal Area is also the place for shoppers to get a little retail therapy, and is home to an amazing number of Maryland art galleries and museums. City of Cumberland, MD

C&O Canal Bike Trail
The C&O Canal National Historical Park offers mountain bikers many opportunities for challenging trails, particularly around Cumberland, Maryland. The trail extends over 184 miles including visitors’ centers in Washington, D.C., Hancock, and Potomac. The dirt trails of the old canal towpath lead to some of Maryland’s most scenic destinations.
