Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI)

The Adventure Sports Center International, or ASCI, is a non-profit organization that introduced people to the excitement of white water rafting, among other activities. Based in McHenry, Maryland, the Center’s mountaintop white-water “river” is actually a man-made course with re-circulated water. This controlled environment gives people at all skill levels a chance to experience the rapids and practice the sports of kayaking, rafting, river boarding, inflatable kayaks or “duckies”, and canoeing. Instructors come from a variety of backgrounds, including Olympics competitors. Adventure Sports Center International also manages the Fork Run Recreation Area, so students can explore hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, rappelling, and geocaching. There’s also the white-knuckled “mountain coaster.” All activities are family-friendly.
