Western Maryland Scenic Railroad
Western Maryland Scenic Railroad offers visitors a window into the past, when railroad travel ruled the United States. From May until the end of December, experience what it was like to ride the rails on a fully restored steam-powered locomotive from the early part of the 20th century. The journey takes travelers on a round trip adventure that goes for 32 miles between Cumberland and Frostburg, Maryland. The trip begins at the C&O Canal Place station in Cumberland, Maryland. Next, travel through downtown Cumberland and into the Narrows—the Gateway to the West. Brush Tunnel follows Helmstetter’s Curve, a picture-perfect spot for shutterbugs. A hairpin turn at Woodcock Hollows lends excitement to the final stretch into Frostburg, MD. Travelers have three themed choices that enhance the journey: the Excursion Train, the Specialty Train, and the Murder Mystery Train. Guests may purchase tickets via our website by visiting our customize your own vacation package or buy from our activities desk in the lodge main lobby.
